If you run bootcamps or teach yoga classes, you’ve probably spent a good deal of time putting together some solid playlists for your classes. Finding the right music for bootcamp takes some effort! Even if you aren’t a fitness instructor, I’ll bet that you’ve spent a little time doing internet searches in order to create your own playlists for various activities.
Music For Bootcamp
I’m going to tell you about a great mobile phone app and how I use it to put together my playlists.
The Shazam app is typically used to find out the name of a song. When you hear a song on the radio and you don’t know the name of it, you pull out your phone, open up Shazam and in about 1 to 10 seconds (it’s super fast) you know exactly what you’re listening to.
I use Shazam this way too, but I also have a different use for it. A lot of times, I’ll hear a song on the radio and think to myself “this would be a great song to include in my bootcamp music playlist.” Quite often, by the time I get to where I’m going, I forget about the song because my mind has wandered onto other things.
To keep from forgetting about it, I like to pull out Shazam, and just tag it. Shazam keeps a record of all of the songs that you tagged, that way you can just look on your phone and see all of those songs that you thought would make a great addition to your playlist. By using Shazam to keep track of those songs, there is no more forgetting about them.
Shazam App For Your Phone or Tablet
Shazam is available for Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Nokia, Windows Phone 7, and iPad. Download it from your app store.
There are a lot of other things that Shazam does in addition to telling you who sings that song and keeping that information for you. All of these features are included in the free edition of the app.
- Share your tags with your social networks, email, or any other method of sharing that your phone might be capable of.
- Display the lyrics.
- Display and watch the YouTube video.
- Show available tour dates for the band or musician.
- Display the complete discography of the artist.
- Read reviews of the song.
- Find the ringtone of the song.
Shazam Television Shows
If you’re in the US you can use Shazam to tag TV shows.
- Use Shazam to see all the songs featured in the episode.
- Discover all the latest entertainment gossip and news about the cast.
- Get the lowdown on trivia and facts.
- See what the cast and celebs are tweeting, or tweet what you’re thinking.
As you can see, Shazam is a really cool app and it has a lot of uses other than just letting you know who sings something. I’ve found it really helpful in remembering songs and putting together music for bootcamp and workouts.
Have you used this app? Maybe you have another neat method of searching out music or using an app in a unique or unintended way. I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
