On Friday night I went to see the Portland Trailblazers play the Sacramento Kings. One of my clients hooked me up with a great pair of tickets! It was my first trip to the Rose Garden this season and unfortunately, I saw a rather lackluster performance in which the Kings blew out the Blazers by 19 points.
Still, it’s always fun to see a Blazers game. There is always so much to look at and so many things happening, that it’s very entertaining. If you’ve never been to an NBA game, then I really recommend it if you get the chance.
Portland Trailblazers Stunt Team
The energy in the arena is really amazing when the game is close and your team is scoring points. Since this wasn’t the case, I found my attentions bouncing around all of the other interesting things going on. Being the fitness guy that I am, one of the things that stuck out at me was the condition of the Stunt Team’s men.
Not to be confused with the Blazer Dancers, who are phenomenal, the Portland Trailblazers Stunt Team is the more traditional cheerleading squad that you’ll see balancing the girls way up in the air, tossing them up, and doing somersaults.
They seemed to perform their jobs well, at least they didn’t drop any of the girls, but someone needs to let these guys know that you can be both strong and lean at the same time. I suppose that somewhere between Olympic strong lifts and stunt team practice, their diet is consisting of beer and nachos.
I’m sure that they have access to some damn fine trainers within the Trailblazer organization, but if any of them are looking to take their physique to the next level, I’d be happy to train them!
I’d also like to give a big shout out to my friend Blaze, the Trailblazers mascot. When he heard that I was at the game, he made his way over for a photo-op!
Keep doing what you do! You’re one slick cat!
